It is hard to explain how beautiful the view is from just outside my front door. It is SO European. But seriously, it is. It's Europe.
The view is of la Grand Place -- and the beautiful church-steeple-looking-castle building is the holy church of beers n'things. Actually it is the Hotel de Ville, and they FINALLY lit it back up with the fantastic lights they used over the holidays. The giant steeple changes from pink to blue to red to green to yellow... I see new variations every night.
Why did they re-light on March 28th? I am hoping someone who knows Brussels a bit better than I will tell me, but for now, I will just say it is because I prayed for this.
Prayer works.
There are several musicians who play at night on the platform looking out over the garden with all the lines of trees and funky lighting. Tonight my favorite musician was playing. We will call him William. William plays the saxaphone, and he always, always makes me cry. Seriously -- tonight when we walked past him it was barely snowing, and the church of beers n'things was glowing like a cracked out, radioactive Christmas tree of dreams, and this man's jazz was filling up the quiet, empty park, and my SOUL -- you'd have to be dead not to cry.
Here's a few to try to show you how gorgeous it is.
William is featured in the third photograph.
